What is PaaS?
PaaS is one of three types of cloud computing service (along with IaaS and SaaS). It refers to a platform that a cloud provider offers to users via the network. This is why it is called Platform-as-a-Service. This platform is hosted by the provider, within their infrastructure. The user logs in to the platform via the OVHcloud Control Panel, a different control panel, or an API. They will only be billed for what they use, on either an hourly or monthly basis (depending on the solution concerned and the provider’s billing systems). There are many reasons this model can be advantageous for companies. They can provide their teams (especially developers and programmers) with a platform to help them with their daily work, and they do not need to maintain the platform itself. The cloud service provider takes care of it, by maintaining the physical infrastructure on which the platform is hosted. This means that businesses do not need to invest in local servers or train maintenance teams in order to use their tools.
