OVHcloud® joins the CNCF at the Platinum level

OVHcloud® joins the CNCF at the Platinum level

Co-author: Aurélie Vache

OVHcloud is now a Platinum Member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). We are excited to share this news with our US customers and the wider cloud native community.

Platinum is the CNCF's highest membership tier. We are now one of 19 Platinum Members alongside AWS®, Google Cloud®, Microsoft Azure®, and Oracle®. As of November 2026, we are also the only cloud provider headquartered in Europe at this level.

This milestone builds on years of work. We contribute to open source projects, build on open standards, and work with the community to make infrastructure more open and portable. As a Platinum Member, we now take a more active role in shaping the technologies you rely on every day.

What is the CNCF?

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation is a nonprofit organization and part of the Linux Foundation®. It hosts some of the most important open source projects in cloud native computing, including Kubernetes®, Prometheus®, and Envoy®.

The CNCF gives these projects a neutral home. Open communities develop and govern them, not a single vendor. This model supports open standards and lets you move workloads between cloud environments more easily.

The CNCF brings together nearly 800 members and more than 200 startups. You can explore its projects and the wider ecosystem in the CNCF Landscape.

From OpenStack® to Kubernetes and beyond

Open source has been part of our DNA for more than a decade. We started using OpenStack in 2012 and joined the OpenStack Foundation in 2014.

As Kubernetes became a core building block for modern applications, we invested in its ecosystem. Today, our Managed Kubernetes Service runs thousands of production clusters across 20 public cloud regions worldwide. We use Kubernetes and Cilium® to deliver networking, observability, and security at scale. You can read how we run Cilium in this CNCF case study.

We also give back to the projects we depend on. In 2020, our engineers contributed a Kubernetes Operator to Harbor™, the CNCF-graduated container registry. They became maintainers and helped bring Kubernetes-native lifecycle management to the project.

This is how we approach open source. We contribute code, share what we learn in production, and work alongside the community.

Bringing cloud native and AI together

AI workloads are changing the cloud native ecosystem fast. In March 2026, our AI Deploy and Managed Kubernetes Service achieved Kubernetes AI Conformance.

The CNCF Kubernetes AI Conformance Program sets a common baseline for running AI and machine learning (ML) workloads on Kubernetes. For you, this means your AI workloads run on a tested, standard foundation that supports portability across providers.

We believe AI infrastructure should keep the principles that made cloud native successful:

  • open technologies;
  • portability and interoperability;
  • a strong community.

A bigger role in the community

Our Platinum membership lets us deepen this involvement. We plan to contribute through engineering, community participation, and work on open standards and governance.

As cloud native and AI converge, freedom of choice matters more than ever. You should be able to choose where and how you run your workloads, without lock-in to a single stack or cloud.

Our goal is simple. We want to help build an open cloud where you keep control over your data and technology choices.

A seat at the table

Platinum Members sit on the CNCF Governing Board, which guides the foundation's strategic direction. Yaniv Fdida, our Chief Product and Technology Officer, represents OVHcloud® on the board.

This gives us a stronger voice in the future of cloud native technology. We look forward to working with the community to shape it.

Meet us at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America

We will be at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2026 in Salt Lake City this November. Come say hello and hear what we have learned running cloud native technology in production.

Talk: software supply chain security

Aurélie Vache, Developer Advocate at OVHcloud and CNCF Ambassador, presents I Packaged My Application in a Container Image, and Now What?

  • When: Tuesday, November 10, 12:20–12:50 PM MT
  • Where: Hyatt Regency, Level 4, Regency Ballroom B–D

Pushing a container image to a registry is only the first step. Aurélie walks you through practical ways to secure your software supply chain:

  • generating a software bill of materials (SBOM);
  • scanning for vulnerabilities and using Vulnerability Exploitability eXchange (VEX) data;
  • creating attestations and signing images;
  • automating it all in your CI/CD pipelines.

Community evening with the OVHcloud® team

Join Aurélie and the OVHcloud team for an evening of Kubernetes talk, drinks, and community.

  • When: Wednesday, November 11, 6:00–8:00 PM MT
  • Where: a one-minute walk from the Salt Palace Convention Center

Enjoy a short discussion, meet fellow cloud native enthusiasts, and pick up some OVHcloud swag. We will have copies of Understanding Kubernetes in a Visual Way to give away. Register now to save your spot.

Can't make it to Salt Lake City? You can also find our team at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2027 in Barcelona next March.
