High Grade Servers: Technical FAQ
What workloads are OVHcloud High Grade servers best for?
High Grade servers are designed for mission-critical and high-availability workloads: hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), software-defined storage (SDS), large-scale enterprise databases, e-commerce platforms, financial trading systems, online gaming infrastructure, and high-performance computing (HPC). High Grade is sized for workloads where downtime has direct revenue impact and where component-level redundancy — dual power supplies, hot-swap drives, four redundant network interfaces — is a requirement, not a preference.
How does High Grade compare to Scale and Advance?
High Grade is OVHcloud's most resilient dedicated server tier. Compared to Scale, High Grade adds hot-swap drives that can be replaced without server downtime, four redundant network interfaces, higher-density storage configurations (up to 36 × HDD or 24 × NVMe SSD plus 36 × SAS HDD per server), and specialized SKUs for HCI, SDS, and storage-heavy workloads. Both Scale and High Grade include redundant power supplies, water cooling, 4 × 25 Gbps networking, and a 99.99% SLA. Scale offers higher peak compute (up to 384 cores on Scale-a8 vs. High Grade's 16 to 192 cores), so the choice between them is workload-driven: choose Scale for compute-intensive workloads that benefit from raw core count, choose High Grade for workloads that require hardware redundancy and high availability. Compared to Advance, High Grade offers more RAM, faster networking, denser storage, and more resilience features.
What are the technical specifications of High Grade servers?
High Grade servers ship with AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series or Intel Xeon 6 processors, with single-socket and dual-socket configurations supporting 16 to 192 cores depending on the SKU. RAM ranges from 128 GB to 3 TB of DDR5 or DDR4 ECC. Storage uses PCIe Gen 4 or Gen 5 NVMe SSDs, SAS HDDs, or SATA SSDs, configurable from 2 to 36 disks per server — including dense configurations of up to 24 × NVMe SSD plus 36 × SAS HDD on storage-focused SKUs. Network interfaces are 4 × 25 Gbps, with public bandwidth from 1 to 25 Gbps and private vRack bandwidth from 50 to 100 Gbps via OVHcloud Link Aggregation. High Grade servers include redundant power supplies, hot-swap drives, four redundant network interfaces, industrial water cooling, a 99.99% SLA, and OVHcloud Anti-DDoS Protection at no additional cost.
What redundancy features do High Grade servers include?
High Grade servers include dual power supplies, hot-swappable drives that can be replaced without server downtime, four redundant network interfaces, and OVHcloud Link Aggregation (OLA) enabled by default at no additional cost for network path redundancy. These features support continuous operation during scheduled hardware maintenance and unplanned component failure — both common requirements for mission-critical production workloads.
What is OVHcloud vRack and what bandwidth does High Grade provide?
vRack is OVHcloud's private network that connects servers across datacenters and regions over an isolated layer-2 network at no additional bandwidth cost. High Grade servers include 10 to 50 Gbps private vRack bandwidth depending on the SKU, and support up to 100 Gbps with OVHcloud Link Aggregation (OLA) on HCI, SDS, STOR, and HGR-AI-1 SKUs. vRack is included at no cost on all High Grade servers.
Are OVHcloud High Grade servers compliant with industry standards?
High Grade servers run on OVHcloud infrastructure that holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27017, ISO/IEC 27018, and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certifications, along with SSAE 18 Type 2 SOC 1, SOC 2 + NIST, and SOC 3 attestations, PCI DSS Level 1 certification, and support for HIPAA-compliant workloads in US data centers. The OVHcloud Attestations & Certifications page links to the underlying audit reports and certificates for each standard.
Where are OVHcloud High Grade servers hosted?
High Grade servers are deployable across the US and 14 additional regions on four continents, including Hillsboro, Oregon and Vint Hill, Virginia in the US; Beauharnois and Toronto in Canada; Gravelines, Roubaix, and Strasbourg in France; Frankfurt; Warsaw; London; and APAC datacenters (Mumbai, Singapore, and Sydney). Customers can pin data to a specific region for sovereignty or latency requirements.
What is included with every High Grade server at no extra cost?
Every High Grade server includes a 99.99% SLA, OVHcloud Anti-DDoS Protection, redundant power supplies, hot-swap drives, four redundant network interfaces, OVHcloud Link Aggregation (OLA) enabled by default, industrial water cooling, IPMI/KVM console access via the OVHcloud Control Panel or API, a public IPv4 address and an IPv6 address range, vRack private networking up to 50 Gbps, and zero egress fees in North American and European datacenters. Asia-Pacific datacenters have a monthly traffic cap with the option to add bandwidth. Up to 256 additional IPv4 addresses can be added per server.
Is my bandwidth usage unlimited?
At OVHcloud, unlimited and unmetered traffic is enabled by default, with the exception of solutions and services hosted in our Asia-Pacific data centers.
